Volunteer of the Month: In Memoriam, Stuart Gordon

Our January Volunteer of the Month is┬ádedicated to our good friend and animal advocate, Stuart Gordon. Stu was a long-time volunteer at the FredSPCA, his tenure here spanning almost a decade. He was a regular at the shelter, coming in several days a week to help with a variety of tasks from laundry, to dishes, to socializing animals. He especially had a soft spot for our feline friends, adopting 2 of his beloved cats from our location. Besides donating a tremendous amount of his time, Stu donated financially on a regular basis whether we needed funds for an animal’s medical care or help with repairs around the shelter. This Volunteer of the Month post is done with great sadness as Stu passed away on December 21, 2017 from a rare form of leukemia. We hope to honor Stu’s memory by continuing our work with his generous and compassionate spirit in mind. Rest In Peace, Stu.
