Running for the Dogs

On Sunday, October 26, 2014 approximately 30,000 people will embark on the incredible journey that is the Marine Corps Marathon, the third largest marathon in the United States!

For a race of this magnitude, many participants choose to run for a cause. This year, marathoner Carol Shelton has chosen the Fredericksburg SPCA along with the Delmarva Poodle Rescue and Cavalier Rescue as the 3 animal rescue organizations that she will run and raise funds for!

runningfordogsShe has titled her fundraising effort, “Running for the Dogs”. Since a marathon is a daunting 26.2 miles, Carol has asked that those interested in contributing consider donating $26.20 to one or all of the organizations she’s running for. But any donation amount is welcomed!

Carol has asked contributors to donate directly to the organizations through their website, by sending a check directly to the them, or by sending a check to Carol who will then deliver them to the 3 organizations.

  • You can donate to the Fredericksburg SPCA through our website here.
  • If you wish to mail a check, please address to: 10819 Courthouse Road, Fredericksburg, VA 22408
  • If you wish to donate to Carol directly, please address to: Carol Shelton, 2220 Warrenton Road, Fredericksburg, VA 22406

On a daily basis, we care for approximately 220 cats and 100 dogs so you can imagine how much it costs just to feed that many mouths each day. In addition, we must pay for shelter and we also provide medical care, socialization and most of all LOVE! Please become a sponsor to one of these animals in need of your help.
